From Norway….Preikestolen

March 13, 2011

In the past, I brought you a blog about the amazing climb on Mount Huashan, a massive 7,000 foot mountain in China where the travel up to the top is dreadfully steep and deadly. Then Camino Del Rey, where hikers have perished.

Today, I found out about an extraordinary place in Norway by the name of Preikestolen or Pulpit Rock. This is a cliff with an almost semi-flat surface at the top which towers 885 feet over the majestic glistening blue lake in the Lysefjord fjord. (I couldn’t pronounce these names if I tried).  The water adorns the location, where it seems that the heaven and lake melt together in a timeless breathtaking view.

Thousands of tourists make the almost four hour hike and hang out at the top, taking pictures, daring the edges of the cliff and quite honestly, the view is spectacular! Definately worth a visit!
